Resources for first-time parents and babies in Mexico City?
Anders 6 answers • Galina
My partner and I are expecting our first child in a few months, and it will be born here in the city. We're first-time parents and neither of us has much experience with babies and newborns. I'm not from Mexico City or Mexico, so I don't know very well all the resources available for new parents and babies. We live in Benito Juárez, but we can move to other areas if it's worth it.

Take a walk around the Alberca Olímpica, I've heard they have activities for fathers and yoga classes.

IMSS daycares are good, but they're usually full. You can start by doing a pre-registration when your baby is less than 43 days old. I couldn't find any IMSS daycares in my area, so I ended up in a private one, which costs around 16k.

Be careful with IMSS daycares: for infant care, public services are the best option in Mexico City. You just have to go ask for information and try to get on the waiting list.

Check out Esquimalito, they have good baby bathtubs and pañaleras. I bought those two things and they're good. The bathtub is great for when the baby is very small.

I bought almost everything on Amazon for the convenience. We got a Monanito crib, which is easy to move around and has a changing table.

Get a Mustela newborn kit.
