El Salvador Braces for Storms: What You Need to Know for El Zonte

The forecast calls for storms to hit several regions of El Salvador, including San Salvador, La Libertad, and others, during the night of September 19th. As a long-time resident of El Zonte since 2024, I want to share what this means for those of us living here.

According to the MARN, conditions will continue to be wet throughout the night, with potential wind speeds reaching up to 40 km/h. Temperatures will drop, ranging from 17°C to 28°C, depending on the area. This is particularly relevant for El Zonte, which is situated in the eastern part of the country, where the storms are expected to form and potentially move towards the central regions.

While El Zonte is usually spared from the worst effects of these storms, the winds and rain may still pose challenges. If you're planning any outdoor activities or have outdoor equipment, it’s wise to bring it inside or secure it. Additionally, keep an eye on local weather updates and be prepared for potential power outages, which are common during such events.
