How do I handle pests in a luxury apartment in Richardson?

My apartment in a new 'luxury' complex in Richardson has German cockroaches. I'm wondering if this is normal for apartments in the DFW area and if I should just expect this. I've already requested pest control but they can't come for another week.

The pest control issue in Dallas is a common problem. When residents move into a new apartment, the unit is often sprayed to eliminate bugs, but this method is often ineffective in the long run. The chemicals used in spraying can fade quickly, causing the bugs to return. A more effective solution is to use gel bait, which can be placed under the sink and around the fridge motor. This approach has been found to be more successful in eliminating pest problems. Unfortunately, the pest control services provided by apartment complexes often do the bare minimum to address the issue.

Dallas residents who have lived in the city for a long time may be surprised to learn that German cockroach infestations are not uncommon, even in luxury buildings. In fact, some residents have reported experiencing these problems for 20 years or more. It's essential to be aware of the potential for pest issues and not assume that a luxury building is immune to these problems.

This is what I've experienced. The huge cockroaches will pop up in every apartment, but I've never had a problem with the small roaches.

German roaches are much worse than the big cockroaches. I've seen them in crappy complexes in central Texas, but not in apartments or houses up here.

The big cockroaches are just lone travelers, but the small ones are a big family problem.
