DIF Benito Juárez Promotes Girls' Rights in Cancún

On October 12, 2026, DIF Benito Juárez organized a circuit called “Mi futuro, mi decisión” (My future, my decision) for students at the Carlos Fuentes Macías primary school. The activities aimed to strengthen the girls' self-esteem, leadership, and decision-making skills.

Marisol Sendo Rodríguez, the general director of DIF Benito Juárez, highlighted the importance of ensuring girls grow up in safe, violence-free environments, and stressed the need for families, schools, and society to collaborate in protecting their rights and allowing them to make decisions about their future.

During the event, the girls participated in fun and reflective activities such as “My future self,” “My voice matters,” “I decide,” and “My future has a color.” These activities were designed to boost self-esteem, creativity, communication, leadership, and decision-making.

The girls also wrote letters to their future selves and created a collective mural, reflecting on their rights, expressing their needs, and identifying decisions that could benefit their well-being. Nicole Iriany Cuevas Muriel, a sixth-grade student, was recognized for her participation and for representing the concerns and aspirations of other girls in the municipality.

Sendo Rodríguez reiterated that the municipal government will continue promoting preventive, protective, and support actions to ensure that girls, boys, and adolescents grow up in safe spaces, with dignity, freedom, and without discrimination.

The event was attended by the school director, Antonia Marisol Palomo Ávila, the director of the Prevention of Psychosocial Risks for Girls, Boys, and Adolescents, Evelyn González Solís, and the coordinator of Psychosocial Risks, Helen Domínguez Sánchez.
