Cinépolis Las Tiendas Cancún Says Farewell After 19 Years
Mike D here, from the Hotel Zone in Cancún, where fishing and beach life have been my companions since 2021. Today, I want to share some news that’s been on everyone’s mind: Cinépolis Las Tiendas Cancún is closing its doors after 19 years. This isn’t just any closing; it’s the end of an era for moviegoers in the city.

Starting this Thursday, October 8th, the last films will be shown. The final screening will take place on Sunday, October 11th, with a fitting message of 'The last… and we’re out.' It’s hard to imagine a trip to Las Tiendas without catching a movie, isn’t it?
For those of us who have made it a habit to catch the latest flicks or enjoy a family night out, this is a bittersweet moment. But hey, let's make the most of these last days. Go out, see the films that have been on your list, and maybe even revisit some old favorites. It’s a chance to say goodbye in style.
Now, what does this mean for you, the expat or digital nomad living in or visiting Cancún? It’s a reminder that even in a city full of permanent structures, change is constant. Keep your eyes open for new entertainment options, and perhaps support local businesses that may be looking to fill the void left by Cinépolis.
Remember, every closure is a new beginning. So, let’s embrace this transition and see what the future holds for our beloved Cancún.
