I took my Dad to the Wranglers game Friday night and the Hitman game this afternoon. Both were SUPER low attendance, no one cheering. Minor hockey routinely louder.

Calgary can only support one semi-professional or professional hockey team below the Flames. The city's market can't sustain two teams competing for the same audience. The decision to add the Wranglers was likely driven by greed.

The ticket prices for the Hitmen's games are too high. For example, $30 for kids and $40 for adults is more than I'm willing to pay to watch the farm team. Even for the Hitmen, it's difficult to get a family of four into the Dome for under $100. If the prices were lower, I'd be happy to attend multiple games.

I've been questioning whether Calgary can support an NHL, AHL, and WHL team long-term, especially under the current setup. Before the Wranglers arrived, the Hitmen offered a budget-friendly option for families. They provided ticket and food packages, as well as reasonably priced concessions. The arrival of the Wranglers has complicated this positioning, as both teams are competing for the same audience.

We held season tickets for the Hitmen and enjoyed the experience. They allowed us to trade in unused tickets for extra seats and offered a free team jersey per seat per season. However, when the Wranglers came to town, the Hitmen's concessions were reduced, and prices increased. The team also traded their captain mid-season, which was a disappointment. We eventually gave up our seats, as it was clear the Hitmen and their fans were no longer a priority.
