Top European Cities for Graduates: Where to Start Your Career
The Edumentors platform recently ranked Cluj-Napoca, Romania as the best European city for graduates to live and work in, based on factors like job opportunities, salaries, and cost of living. This ranking surprised many, as Cluj-Napoca, a smaller city in the northwestern part of Romania, is now being seen as a tech hub and a prime location for young professionals.

The platform also highlighted Vilnius, Lithuania as the second-best city for graduates, with its strong job market and higher salaries. Germany saw four cities (Hamburg, Munich, Leipzig, and Essen) make the top 10 list, thanks to its strong apprenticeship and vocational training culture. This ranking could make a European move more appealing for Canadian graduates, given the potential for closer ties between Canada and the European Union.
Residents in these cities can expect to find relatively low-cost living, with salaries and rent costs that allow young graduates to hold onto more of their income after covering essential expenses. For example, in Cluj-Napoca, graduates can expect to spend roughly half of their monthly take-home pay on rent, leaving the rest for other expenses.
For young professionals looking to start their careers abroad, these rankings provide valuable insights into the best places to live and work in Europe, especially for those who have recently completed their studies in Canada.
