Goodbye Clock Changes: Alberta Embraces Permanent Daylight Saving Time
Alberta is ditching the twice-yearly clock changes, switching to permanent daylight saving time starting this Sunday, Nov. 1. This means longer evenings and shorter mornings, but what does it really mean for expats and digital nomads like me living in Calgary?

Later sunsets, earlier sunrises: In Calgary, the sun will set around 5:30 p.m. in the winter, but rise around 9:30 a.m., making for longer evenings. Northern communities will see even later sunrises. While this might be a bummer for early risers, it could be a perk for those evening outings.
Potential health impacts: The jury's still out on whether permanent DST is better for our health. Some experts argue standard time might be more beneficial. I've lived through the twice-a-year clock changes, so I'll be curious to see if this new system feels like a win for my sleep schedule. It could also affect TV schedules and game times, making for some late-night hockey viewing.
