A New Tool for Active Calgary Residents: Sport Calgary’s Interactive Recreation Map
Living in Calgary with a family, I’ve noticed how busy our days can get with kids’ activities. The new Sport Calgary amenity map, launched on October 13, has made finding venues for physical activities much easier.

As the map is designed by and for Calgarians, it offers a user-friendly interface that resembles Google Maps, focusing on recreation facilities across the city. Users can search by sport and find the name and address of the facilities where they can book. It’s particularly useful for sports groups and clubs, helping them find alternative spaces when their usual venues are at capacity. For families like mine, it’s a handy tool to discover new places to play and stay active.
While it won’t solve the broader issue of a lack of infrastructure, the map encourages creativity in scheduling activities. This means more options for parents and kids to enjoy outdoor spaces and stay fit. The light in the park changes as the day progresses, casting a warm glow over the new pickleball courts at the Foothills Athletic Park. The smell of fresh grass and sweat fills the air, making it a perfect spot for a family game.
