Can I buy a laptop on installment in Bangkok?
Diensten 4 answers • bangkoklach
I'm trying to get a laptop outside of full payment while living in Bangkok, but it seems a credit card is necessary for installments. I'm wondering if there are any shops that offer this or if there are alternative options.

For Thai nationals, finance plans are often tied to credit cards offering 0% interest over 10 months. However, if you're a foreigner, you might be able to secure financing from a second-hand shop if you have a valid work permit. Otherwise, consider finding a Thai acquaintance who trusts you enough to lend you the money.

Retailers typically require secured payment for purchases, which is a standard practice to minimize financial risks.

Some people have had to save for months, buy second-hand laptops at discounted prices, and use them as temporary solutions until they can afford a better one. This approach may not be ideal, but it's a common workaround.

Installment plans are generally reserved for Thai locals, but you can use your credit card to convert purchases into installments, effectively circumventing this restriction.
