Boarding Options for a Very Aggressive/Reactive Dog?

Boarding Options for a Very Aggressive/Reactive Dog?
Diensten 4 answers • Britta O
I'm looking for recommendations for boarding facilities or experienced sitters who can handle a very aggressive/reactive dog while I'm away for 8 days. My dog is very reactive and aggressive toward strangers and other dogs, although he's fine with cats. I've tried arranging meet and greets with several dog sitters, but he would bark aggressively, pull hard on his leash, and lunge toward them even when they were standing about 10 feet away. Unfortunately, asking friends or relatives to take care of him isn't an option either.

If you're looking for a place to board your pup, consider asking your vet for recommendations. They may even offer boarding services themselves, but it's essential to assess whether their facility is suitable for your dog's needs.

For a dog with aggression issues, a regular dog walker or boarding scenario might not be the best fit. You may want to explore working with a dog trainer who specializes in aggressive dogs.

K9 Overwatch offers boarding and training programs, and they also provide standard boarding services.

I've had a positive experience with Canine PhD in Decatur. They successfully boarded my very dog-aggressive pup, and a friend also took their people-aggressive pup there. They're lovely, take good care of their dogs, and are well-versed in reactivity/aggression. Their services are more expensive than Rover, but it was 100% worth the cost.
