Miami's VC Boom Continues: Q3 Data Reveals Strong Growth in Tech and FinTech
It's clear that Miami's startup ecosystem is thriving, as the latest Q3 report from PitchBook highlights a significant increase in venture capital (VC) activity. OpenEvidence's $250 million raise, the largest in the quarter, is just the tip of the iceberg. With South Florida poised to outperform the previous year's record, it's an exciting time for tech and fintech startups in the area.

Despite the data lag, the Q3 PitchBook-NVCA Venture Monitor report shows a robust 119 deals, with a total of $1.14 billion attracted, making this the best quarterly total so far this year. Miami's tech hubs, particularly medtech, financial services, and AI, continue to lead the charge. Key deals like Unrivaled's $106 million Series C, Split Pay's $100 million for fintech innovation, and Flex's $270 million (comprising $70 million equity and $200 million debt) demonstrate the growing interest in Miami's startup scene.
While the numbers may change as new reporting comes in, one thing is certain: Miami is well on its way to another strong year in VC funding. For expats and digital nomads like myself, this means increased opportunities and a strong tech community to be part of.
