Miami AI Summit: Big Hitters and Big Bucks Drive Tech Growth
On October 23, Miami will host the Miami AI Summit, which is set to feature a keynote speaker who recently sold his co-founded company to Nvidia for $13 billion. This event marks a significant milestone in the city’s tech journey, according to Burhan Sebin, who leads the summit.

The summit is part of a broader tech movement in South Florida. Key developments include Ken Griffin’s $2 billion pledge to build a Carnegie Mellon campus in Wynwood and the opening of a West Palm Beach base by VC firm a16z. Miami-area startups have raised at least $3.14 billion in venture capital, on pace for the best year since 2022.
This year’s summit includes a 12-hour hackathon on October 17, with over 400 builders expected. Sponsors like Miami-Dade County, Archie, and Cognition will offer cash prizes and platform credits. Winning teams will have the opportunity to work with the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center on life-science problems.
Sebin emphasizes the need for clarity among attendees. 'There are new AI tools popping up every day, new AI models popping up every day,' he says. 'It’s very hard to track all of these and cut the noise.' The summit aims to provide practical guidance on implementing AI effectively.
