Will Mexico City be empty during Semana Santa?

I'm thinking of visiting Mexico City during Semana Santa, but I'm worried that the city might be empty of locals. I'd like to meet some Mexicans and see some everyday life in the city, so I don't want to visit if everyone's gone or staying at home.

I actually enjoy visiting during this time of year because there's less traffic and people. It's a bit more relaxed, and you can still see a lot of the city's festivities. Many of the events are contained in specific areas, so you can still enjoy the city without getting overwhelmed.

There's less traffic, but unless you want to visit the religious events, there's not a lot to do.

The city will be a bit empty, but you'll still have plenty of locals to meet - around 8 million of us will be staying in the city.
