Safe areas to stay in Mexico City for a concert?

I'm visiting Mexico City in December for a concert at the Frey Nano and I'm looking for a relatively safe area to stay, close to the venue. My friend and I don't want to walk around at night without knowing which areas to avoid. If someone could give us some advice on which area to stay in and maybe recommend a great taco spot, we'd be grateful.

I had to look up what Polanco was, but I get it now. We've seen several options near Polanco, but the issue is transportation - how safe are taxis or Uber? Is there a more reliable method of transportation?

Within Polanco, it's more about the traffic, but still follow basic precautions

Uber is pretty safe, but I wouldn't take a taxi. They tend to overcharge you, anyway. But you could always stay in the area, grab a snack, and then ask for an Uber when it's less busy

The Polanco neighborhood is the correct answer. To get to and from the concert venue, there's a metro line very close by (Mixiuhca or Velodromo stations on line 9), and that line takes you directly to the La Roma, Condesa and Escandon areas. Any of those three areas would work perfectly for you. However, the best taco spots are in non-gentrified areas, so you won't find 10/10 tacos in Condesa, Escandon, or Roma, but you can find 8/10 tacos without a problem

If the main reason for your trip is the concert and you want to stay close to the Fray Nano, there's a Holiday Inn and a Fiesta Americana within a kilometer, so you could even walk there. If you want to explore more of the city, you could stay in Reforma, Roma, or Condesa and take an Uber to the concert - those areas are very popular among tourists and have plenty of options for food and nightlife

Book an Airbnb in the Jardín Balbuena area, it's located next to the historic neighborhood where the Fray church is situated.
