Mercado Martínez de la Torre
About
Mercado Martínez de la Torre is a dynamic market that has grown to the point of having its own annex, but it still cannot keep up with the demand of the historic Colonia Guerrero. The market is located on a side of a tramo of Eje 1 Nte (Mosqueta) and seems to be the precursor of many other markets in La Lagunilla and Tepito. The market often hosts functions of lucha libre during lunchtime. This tradition is repeated in the Metro Guerrero station, with murals under the Zarco street. Rafael Martínez de la Torre was a conservative who supported the expulsion of the Sisters of Charity from the city and also supported the pardon of Maximiliano's life. The market is a good place to visit when exploring the area, whether for food or simply to explore.
