Everyone on the lawn clapped when the sun went down
stefan_losang · Los Feliz, Los Angeles · Oct 8
On Wednesday at sunset I sat on the lawn at the Griffith Park Observatory, where a crowd was already sitting on the grass. When the sun touched the horizon they all stopped talking, and when it was gone somebody clapped. Everyone joined in, gently, for about ten seconds. I think we were thanking the sun. I went back every Wednesday for a month. The clapping started a little later each week. By the fourth Wednesday I was the one who started it. I am not proud. I am not ashamed.
