The construction of El Salvador's Pacific Airport in La Unión is advancing, with the passenger terminal's structural components being assembled. This project is expected to boost tourism and investment in the eastern region of El Salvador, particularly in the city of La Libertad. The airport's development forms part of the government's broader strategy to stimulate economic activity and create new opportunities outside of the country's main urban centers.

Construction has already generated over 3,600 direct and indirect jobs. Once operational, the airport is planned to feature a runway measuring 2,400 meters long and 45 meters wide, with capacity to serve approximately 365,000 passengers and accommodate around 2,000 flight operations annually. The airport is expected to be operational by the second half of 2027.

Once operational, the Pacific Airport could significantly improve regional connectivity and support the growth of tourism and commerce in La Libertad and surrounding communities.
