Cocolito’s Heartfelt Message to ‘Hermanos Lejanos’ After U.S. Recognition
El Salvador, La Libertad As a lifelong resident of La Libertad, I have seen firsthand the impact that our 'Hermanos Lejanos' have on our community. Their stories of bravery and perseverance resonate deeply with me. Recently, Cocolito, the beloved comedian and my compatriot, received a well-deserved recognition during his U.S. tour, and his message to those who have left El Salvador is nothing short of inspiring.

Cocolito, the stage name of Roberto Alfaro, was honored with a diploma at the Soy Salvadoreño Festival in Long Island, New York. In his acceptance speech, he paid tribute to the diaspora, expressing gratitude for the courage of those who have left their homeland in search of better opportunities. His words, filled with emotion and pride, echoed through the halls of the festival, reminding us all of the strength and resilience of our fellow countrymen.
Cocolito's journey, from a small town in La Libertad to the stage, mirrors the path taken by many of our expats. His success is a reflection of the hard work and determination of the 'Hermanos Lejanos.' As a healthcare worker in this beautiful region, I am constantly reminded of the sacrifices they make and the impact they have on our community. Their stories continue to inspire me in my own work and in the care I provide to those in La Libertad.
