The Sud-Ouest borough's engineering report concluded that the building is deteriorating at a worrying rate, posing an 'imminent danger.' As a result, a section of Rue Saint-Ambroise has been closed to traffic, and the building's front section will be demolished.
The pink house itself, however, will be preserved as part of the future project called La Malterie, which aims to include 685 housing units, 20% of them social housing, and community spaces. The project is still in the preliminary stages, with the borough still reviewing the plans.
