Will I get compensation for excessive road closures in my neighborhood for a production shoot?

If you're concerned about disruptions, it's best to be proactive. I've had a similar experience recently. A whole block was shut down while filming was taking place, and we were able to negotiate compensation with the location manager. This was possible because we had current examples of the disruption to point to.

In my experience, production teams are often more concerned with meeting their shooting schedule than with minimizing disruptions to local residents. I've had to ask for cash compensation to stop leaf blowers and lawn mowers while filming at least a dozen times in the past year. In some cases, we were even able to get permission to park our vehicles in neighbors' driveways, and we even organized meet-and-greets with the main talent to ease any inconvenience.

As a former location manager, I believe that residents should be compensated for any inconvenience caused by filming. It's surprising that this hasn't been arranged already. If you're in this situation, I recommend reaching out to the locations department to discuss compensation. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

If you're dealing with a location manager, it's a good idea to explain your situation and ask for compensation. It's not uncommon for this to happen. Be prepared for them to try to accommodate you with alternative parking arrangements first, but it's worth offering to let them use your driveway if you want to earn some extra money.
