How did Atlanta City Hall and the White House discuss the pandas from China?

I've been hearing that the pandas are already in Atlanta, and I'm wondering how the conversation went between the White House, Trump, and Atlanta City Hall. I know that the Mayor likes to post about Trump and the GOP on his social media channels, but I'm not sure if he actually stood up against them like other mayors. I also know that ICE has a field office on Ted Turner where they are holding people overnight in a facility that is not built for detention or overnight stays of any kind, and the Mayor does nothing about it. What do you think the conversation was like about sending along the pandas from a dictator via Trump?

Dickens seems more interested in promoting his own business ventures and gaining favor with the police department than in genuinely supporting the zoo. In fact, the zoo has lost control of a significant area of land, which was taken by the city for a parking lot. This has actively harmed the zoo's operations.

The zoo administration had been planning for the pandas' arrival for months, and the agreement with the Chinese government was likely made well before the Chinese president's visit. While it's possible that the mayor's office and the federal government may have discussed logistics, it's more likely that the plan was already in place and the Chinese government simply waited for the right moment to announce the visit.

I'm not a fan of Dickens, but the idea that he was involved in the pre-existing deal between the zoo and China is unfounded. The fact that some people on this platform are speculating about things they know little about is concerning.
