Quintana Roo Takes a Swing at Softball and Beisbol 5
Hey there, Isla Mujeres expats and digital nomads! I hope you're having a blast here, but let’s get down to some serious business. The state of Quintana Roo is stepping up its game in the world of sports, specifically in the realm of softball and Beisbol 5. It’s an exciting development for locals and tourists alike, so let’s dive in.
After some key meetings, the plan is to create a state association for both softball and Beisbol 5. Juan Ramón Cosgaya Cuevas, a local sports enthusiast, presented the progress of this initiative at a national assembly of the Mexican Softball Federation in Durango. The goal is to organize clubs, leagues, and player development, all while hosting state and national competitions.
There are some big plans for 2027, too. The first Cancún Softball and Beisbol 5 Cup is on the horizon, bringing teams from all over the country to compete. This not only promises to be a great event but also aims to establish Cancún as a hub for national sporting events. Talk about putting Isla Mujeres on the map!
And if that’s not enough, there are efforts to spread the love for Beisbol 5 to more municipalities in the area. So far, workshops have been held in Chetumal, Playa del Carmen, Lázaro Cárdenas, and, of course, Isla Mujeres. It’s clear that the state is dedicated to growing the sport and providing more opportunities for athletes.
