Island Clean-Up: Two Tons of Garbage Removed from Isla Mujeres

The municipal government of Isla Mujeres has carried out a cleanup operation in the island, removing over two tons of garbage from various areas including Punta Sur, Sac Bajo, and several coastal colonies. The aim is to keep the island clean and prevent mosquito breeding that can spread diseases like dengue, Zika, and chikungunya. Santiago Quiñonez, the director of Public Services, said that they collected around two tons of garbage each day during these clean-up operations.
Residents are encouraged to keep their patios and empty spaces clean and to avoid storing water in containers to help reduce the risk of mosquito breeding. The government will continue these clean-up efforts to maintain the island's clean appearance and improve public services.
