Hobby airport to downtown?

Hobby airport to downtown?
Transportation 7 answers • Rowan Pemberton
I'll be in Houston for a work trip the beginning of November. I'll be flying to Hobby airport and working at a hotel in downtown. Should I just take an Uber from the airport or will I be safe taking public transportation?

For a convenient ride downtown, take the 500 bus. It's a safe option, but be aware that it operates on a thirty-minute schedule.

The 500 bus is indeed an easy way to get downtown, but it's worth noting that it's a direct route.

Compared to NYC or Chicago, Houston's public transit system is quite different. If you're traveling for work and your company is covering expenses, consider taking an Uber to ensure a more flexible schedule, especially with luggage in tow.

Considering the 500 bus runs directly between the airport and downtown, it should be able to accommodate a reasonable amount of luggage for a work trip.

If your company is paying for transportation, an Uber might be a better choice, given the time it takes for public transport to reach its destination.

Public transportation is generally safe, but be aware that some bus stops are located in areas that might be considered sketchy. If you're staying at a hotel, it's a good idea to call ahead and ask about the accessibility and safety of the area from the 500 Airport Direct bus stop.

This is a good idea, especially since some people may use the term 'downtown' loosely, referring to areas within the 610 loop.
