HRCE/Province/School Board: Firing Employee, Then Asking Them to Cover Same Position?

My son's pre-primary teacher was let go due to low enrolment numbers across the HRCE, and then asked to sub for the same position the following day. I'm shocked by the lack of forethought and care in this situation, and I'm not sure who to contact to report this.

No I think it might be going according to plan here. The defense department has been doing a similar thing for a long time, so likely not. They hire contractors, but there is a rule if they are a contractor for so long they need to be hired full time, so they let the contract expire then sign a new one.

It appears HRCE is creating an increasingly difficult work environment for CUPE employees in the lead-up to the strike/lockout. This is evident in their strict enforcement of minor rules and refusal to show flexibility, even when senior administrators are attempting to act in good faith.

Unfortunately, a term lead in this situation may have been unfairly displaced, while a permanent lead at a different school had their classroom closed due to low enrollment. HRCE's priorities seem to focus on maintaining a certain number of employees, rather than considering the needs of the children in their care.
