How to clean smelly boots?
Services 6 answers • Delphine ThibaultDelphine Thibault
I have a pair of boots that smell terrible after being soaked in mud and moisture for a month. I tried washing them with laundry detergent and putting them in the freezer, but they still smell moldy. I'm looking for home remedies or tricks to save them.

You might be able to use a product like OdoBan to help eliminate the smell.

You can try soaking your boots in a solution of distilled water, white vinegar, and baking soda for about 20 minutes to see if it helps get rid of the smell.

I'm going to give the baking soda solution a try, thanks for the tip! I'll report back on how it goes.

I use shoe laundry bags to clean my work shoes and sneakers, and it's helped me eliminate odors. You can try putting your boots in one of these bags and giving them a thorough laundering with detergent, enzyme powder, and laundry sanitizer.
