I'm going to Tamarindo for 3 months this October and I'm really excited. I want to improve my Spanish, meet people from different countries and explore Costa Rica.

Consider staying outside of Tamarindo, as it's very expensive. You can visit for a day trip or evening outing.

Tamarindo is a party town, but you can find surf lessons and other activities near the center of town. Potrero and Flamingo are nearby towns, about 30-40 minutes by motorcycle, and are considered more beautiful.

To save money, consider buying groceries in Villarreal, where prices tend to be lower. Plan your daily schedule in advance by researching costs and travel information, such as bus schedules, which can be infrequent in some areas, so you can make the most of your time and get around easily.
