I'll be staying in an Airbnb called Mango - King Suite with my girlfriend and her family. The Airbnb is six minutes from downtown and somehow in the jungle. We've heard there are snakes and scorpions in the area. Are encounters with them rare, or do they get into the houses?

When in Sayulita, it's essential to be mindful of scorpions and spiders. They might not be everywhere, but taking precautions is a good idea. Before putting on clothes, shoes, or getting into bed, make sure to shake them thoroughly. Many Airbnb properties in the area have already taken measures to deter these creatures, but it's still crucial to stay vigilant. As for snakes, they're relatively rare to spot.

The presence of scorpions in Sayulita homes can vary greatly. We've experienced both extremes - houses with frequent scorpions and those where we never encountered one. Factors such as maintenance play a significant role in minimizing the risk. While scorpions can cause pain, they're not deadly.

Snakes in Sayulita are generally harmless, with most species being non-venomous or mildly venomous. They're also not typically aggressive. However, it's worth noting that coral snakes do exist in the area, although we've been fortunate enough to avoid encountering them in our 16 years of living here. To minimize the risk of encountering scorpions, it's a good habit to shake out shoes, clothes, and shower towels before use.

When entering a Sayulita home, you might find geckos, cockroaches, millipedes, or tailless whip spiders inside. While scorpions and spiders can also be present, they're less common. It's essential to be aware of these potential visitors and take necessary precautions to minimize their presence.
