Will data centers be built in Santurce?

Autre il y a 1j 3 answers •

I'm a real estate agent working in Santurce, and I've seen people trip over the rules regarding data centers. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to build them here, considering the infrastructure and energy costs.

This project's failure is actually a positive outcome, thanks to the efforts of Luma, Genera, and the AAA.

No data centers will be built in the island for the same reason you mentioned in your post. There's no infrastructure for it.

Data centers are strategically placed near underwater internet cables that connect countries, like the ones in Virginia. They have direct connections to Europe, allowing a server to serve both Europe and the US. Most of the servers we connect to in Puerto Rico are in Miami or Virginia, and the same goes for local companies' own infrastructure.
