Puerto Morelos Boosts School Safety with New Pedestrian Crossings
After a rainy morning in Puerto Morelos, the sun was shining as Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, the municipal president, inaugurated the Paso Seguro Escolar at the 5 de Mayo kindergarten. This initiative, part of a larger project, aims to enhance the safety of children during their daily commutes to school, addressing a long-standing concern among local families.
With a total investment of 1.4 million pesos, the project includes four pedestrian crossings, each measuring 6.40 meters wide and equipped with two 2.20-meter ramps and a two-meter walkway. The construction uses MR-42 hydraulic concrete, ensuring durability and safety.
Mario Salinas Castro, the Secretary of Public Works, highlighted that the initiative covers four kindergarten schools: Francisco I. Madero, 5 de Mayo, Aquiles Serdán, and Teresa de Jesús Magaña Herrera. The president also emphasized the need for continued vigilance from the Traffic Department as students return to school.
