How to handle hidden car damages?

How to handle hidden car damages?
Juridique & Finance 3 answers • Hugo FriasHugo Frias
I bought a used car in a private sale for 5,000 dollars, and the mechanic found several hidden damages, including a transmission problem and engine issues, which he estimated would cost around 3,000 dollars to repair. The seller gave me a restrictive contract that says I can only get a 50% refund if I return the car. I'm not sure if these damages are covered under the warranty, and I'm looking for advice on how to proceed.

You should have checked the car's condition before buying it, not after. It's the seller's responsibility to disclose any damages, but it's also your responsibility to inspect the vehicle before making a purchase.

That's exactly why I'm posting this - for people who, like me, don't know how to handle situations like this.

If you take the case to Acodeco, you'll need to present all the evidence, including notarized documents, and wait for the hearing. Don't fall for any offers or proposals until the car is replaced and in good working condition.
