I've been quoted $1775 by my vet for a dog teeth cleaning and I think it's too high. I'm looking for some advice from people who have been through this before.

We spent $500 in 2023 for a teeth cleaning procedure involving anesthesia at Pine Castle Animal Care Center. Given the rapid price increase, I'm skeptical about the quoted price being accurate.

That's just cleanings? No extractions? Most vets require bloodwork as well, which can add to the cost. I've never paid more than $800 for cleanings, but extractions and other services can get expensive quickly.

Unfortunately, vet care has gotten really expensive, especially since some vets have been taken over by private equity companies. You might want to look into places like Misfits in Tavares or Helping Hands in Orlando.

I have two recommendations. First, I have a Banfield wellness plan that includes a free dental cleaning annually, including anesthesia. It's part of a monthly payment plan that adds up to around $650, which makes it pay for itself. Second, I recently took my dog to Orlando Veterinary Dentistry in Lake Mary, and they were very reasonably priced compared to other places. The doctor was also kind and patient, and didn't try to sell me on any unnecessary services.
