Curious about the price difference between Super C and IGA for a typical grocery run? I decided to do the math and find out just how much you can save by choosing one over the other.

I put together a typical grocery list and priced out all 13 items (before tax) on each store's website, matching the same products and sizes as closely as possible. Here’s what I found:

Super C: The Budget Winner

Super C came out on top with a total of $65.60 for the full cart. The biggest wins were the rotisserie chicken, which cost $10.99 (a full $2 less than IGA), and the sale on English cucumbers, down to just $0.88 from $1.79. Super C was cheaper on nine of the 13 items in my cart.

IGA: A Bit More Expensive, But Not by Much

While IGA's total was $71.79, or $6.19 more than Super C, it didn't lose on everything. Its Compliments russet potatoes were a dollar cheaper, and it narrowly won on the orange juice and ground beef. However, the chickpeas cost 63% more at IGA, at $2.19 per can. This difference, while not significant for a single purchase, can add up over time.

For this particular cart, shopping at IGA cost me about 9% more than at Super C. While the difference is noticeable, it might not be enough to sway your decision unless you're particularly price-sensitive.
