Mexico City’s New Safety Initiative: ‘Code 1, Police in Your Street’
Alright, expats and digital nomads in Mexico City, here's a little something that’s been floating around the city: the new ‘Code 1, Policía en Tu Calle’ initiative. It’s like the city is saying, “Hey, we heard you were feeling a bit unsafe, and we’re here to make sure you’re always under the watchful eye of the police.”

So what exactly does this mean for you? Well, the idea is to have a more visible police presence in all neighborhoods. It's like having a little guard dog watching over you, but instead of a dog, it's a friendly officer. The plan is to make sure that no matter where you are in the city, you'll always have a friendly face from the police force to chat with.
Now, I’ve been here since 2016, and I must say, it’s a bit of a change. Long-timers might not notice it as much, but for newcomers, it’s pretty noticeable. It’s like when you get a new Wi-Fi password, you might not notice the difference until someone points it out.
