BCS Intensifies Dengue Prevention with Fumigation and Larvicide Brigades
Baja California Sur has intensified its dengue prevention efforts by fumigating over 23,000 hectares across the state, with a significant focus on La Paz and Los Cabos. Most of the fumigation work is concentrated in La Paz (53%) and Los Cabos (28%), where the majority of the state's confirmed dengue cases have been recorded.

In addition to fumigation, larvicide brigades and the Wolbachia program are also playing key roles. The Wolbachia program, which involves releasing mosquitoes with a naturally occurring bacteria that limits their ability to transmit dengue, is being implemented in urban areas like Cabo San Lucas and La Paz. Medical staff are also being trained to recognize and treat dengue and other mosquito-borne illnesses.
Residents and visitors should take note of these preventive measures. Eliminating standing water, using insect repellent, and ensuring window screens are intact can go a long way in keeping dengue at bay. State Health Secretary Ana Luisa Guluarte Castro advises seeking medical attention promptly if you experience symptoms like fever, muscle pain, or eye pain.
