What are the best OBs in NYC for women over 35?

I'm 38 and just found out that I'm pregnant, so I'm looking for recommendations for a great OB in NYC/LIC area. Since I'm considered advanced maternal age, I'd love to find a doctor with experience managing pregnancies like mine.

I'm in the same age bracket and have friends who've had good experiences at Weill Cornell. They have a specialized maternal-fetal medicine team for higher-risk pregnancies, which can provide a more comprehensive approach. You may want to check if they accept your insurance plan.

I delivered at Tisch Hospital (NYU Langone) and received excellent care. To find a good practice, I recommend first choosing a hospital where you'd like to deliver and then finding a practice with admitting privileges there. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend the practice I used for my OB/GYN services.

As a birth doula and RN, I strongly recommend NYU hospital but would advise against using Pure. I highly recommend the midwives at NYU, Downtown Women, and the Hospitalist team located on 53rd Street.

Given the high average age for first-time mothers in NYC (32 years) and the majority of live births occurring in women aged 30-40, any practice in the city will likely have experience with advanced maternal age. When choosing a practice, consider the personalities of the doctors you'll be working with, as any one of them might deliver you. Additionally, you may want to research the NICU situation at the hospital where you plan to deliver.

One thing to keep in mind is that, as your pregnancy progresses, your appointments will become more frequent, typically every other week and then weekly. This may be a consideration when choosing a practice that's convenient to get to.
