Is Grab reliable for early morning trips from Ubud?

We'll be staying in Ubud soon and I'm trying to figure out whether we actually need to prebook private drivers or if scheduling through Grab would be reliable. We have two early morning trips.

For the harbor, Grab is a suitable option. However, for the waterfall, consider hiring a private driver. They can also provide you with a more personalized experience and show you the local sights along the way. Additionally, you can expect a smoother ride and less hassle with pickups and drop-offs.

In some areas, early morning pick-ups can be challenging. For instance, booking an Uber at 5 am in the US is often unreliable, with a high risk of no-shows.

The app will show you if a driver has accepted your ride ahead of time. Alternatively, you can explore the local area and find transportation stalls that offer services to take you around the island. These stalls are abundant and convenient.

I highly recommend using a private driver. I found it to be an excellent value and, in one instance, it was even cheaper than Grab. I booked a tour guide through Airbnb, and he was fantastic. I ended up using his service for two more long drives, and he provided me with exceptional service.

We're planning a day trip to Uluwatu and will need a day driver. If you could share your private driver's contact information, that would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to hire a private driver. Would it be through Klook, my accommodation provider, or a kiosk on the street? I've got most of my trip planned, but this one detail is eluding me.

You can consider hiring a private driver through Klook or your villa. Some accommodations may also offer this service. I haven't had the chance to try it yet, but it's definitely an option to look into.
