Will I get in trouble for smoking a joint in public in Harris County?

I take the bus everywhere and it's rarely a short trip. When I go to the gym for example I like to roll 3 or 4, and there aren't really any hidden places to smoke. I've eaten a couple in fact because of cops. But would they really care in Harris County? After fighting that case last year in Montgomery County and finding most of the inmates in that court room were there for small possession charges I guess I'm a little nervous about it, but I see Houstonians smoking in public all the time.

Unfortunately, racial disparities in policing are a harsh reality. If you're a member of a minority group, be cautious of potential overpolicing. Law enforcement behavior can be unpredictable.

I disagree with the idea that it's impossible to detect when someone is vaping in a car. If you're driving slowly, the interior is filled with smoke, and you're approaching from a distance, it's likely that law enforcement will take notice. Be discreet when consuming reaction-impairing substances in public, as excessive behavior can lead to a traffic stop.

I'd hold off on voting until the outcome of Prop A is clear. Have you cast your ballot yet? The candidates for governor and lieutenant governor are pushing to repeal THC bans.

It's not a good idea to assume you can get away with something just because others do. Be aware that law enforcement can still catch up with you, even if it takes time. Treat vaping in public spaces similarly to drinking in public. Consider using an epipe or vaping at home to maintain discretion.

Make sure to cast your ballot so we can alleviate some of the concerns surrounding this issue. It's worth noting that Talrico, Hinajosa, and Goodwin are all in favor of THC legalization.
