I'm looking for a dish for a school project on solar concentration and solar cooking. I need a parabolic dish that's at least 30 inches in diameter.

Try knocking on doors in neighborhoods with homes from the early 2000s. People might be happy to have you take an unused dish off their fence or roof.

If you notice a dish lying around in a working-class neighborhood that's not being used, you can offer to take it away for free.

I have a satellite dish at my house in the east end, near Mason Park. I'm not sure of the diameter, but you can DM me if you're interested. I'd be happy to give it to you for free.

You can try contacting ABC13 at 3310 Bissonnet. I'm not sure if they still use satellite dishes, but it's worth a call.

The technology behind satellite dishes has become more efficient, allowing smaller dishes to collect the same amount of data as larger ones, which were previously needed to receive a decent signal.

You're looking for a Ku band dish, which is typically used for satellite TV. Those dishes are usually around 18-24 inches in diameter, and they need to be secured properly. Make sure you get a parabolic dish for your project.

Thanks for the extra info. I'm building a frame to hold the dish, and I just need a larger dish for my project on solar concentration and solar cooking.
