Can my roommate continue using my du Wi-Fi after I leave the UAE?

I'm leaving Dubai permanently soon and I need some advice regarding my du Home Wireless Wi-Fi. The account is in my name and linked to my Emirates ID. My roommate wants to continue using the Wi-Fi and is happy to pay the monthly bills through the du app, but du has told me that transferring ownership to her isn't possible. I'm concerned that my Emirates ID/residency will be cancelled when I leave the UAE and I don't want to be liable for any future payments.

Leaving a connection in your name can lead to financial and legal repercussions. You'll be responsible for any outstanding payments, which may result in costly penalties.

If you're no longer involved, it's best to have her obtain her own contract. She can use her Emirates ID and pay the security deposit, freeing you from potential financial obligations.

It's crucial to cancel the connection before you leave the country. She can then secure her own contract, using her Emirates ID, and pay the security deposit, which is typically AED 1,000.

If she's willing to take on the responsibility, let her get her own contract in her name.

Leaving your name associated with someone else's liability is a bad idea. It's best to avoid any potential financial risks and have her secure her own contract.
