The best sandwich in Dubai was full of sand

The sand came up at Kite Beach around 4pm with only a few minutes of warning. A handful of us who had been lying in different spots ended up under one large blanket that a man had brought for his picnic. We sat pressed together, laughing and spitting sand, for half an hour. When it passed everyone brushed off and left, but not before splitting the one sandwich we had between us. It was cheese. It was gritty. I think I will remember it as the best sandwich in Dubai.
