Vietnam Proposes 4-Day National Day Holiday in 2027: An Exciting Prospect for Expats in Da Nang
Back in the cold of Minneapolis, I made the decision to move to Da Nang, Vietnam, and it was one of the best choices I've ever made. Now, as Vietnam proposes a 4-day National Day holiday in 2027, I'm looking forward to more leisure time, especially for expats like myself and digital nomads who call Da Nang home.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, civil servants, public employees, and workers in the public sector would have September 2, 2027, off, along with the following day, September 3. This creates a four-day break when combined with the two regular weekly days off, making it easier to plan trips or simply enjoy the beach and local attractions.
For companies, employers can decide on a two-day National Day holiday for their workers, including September 2 and either September 1 or September 3. Employers are encouraged to notify workers at least 30 days in advance and ensure that legally required benefits are met. I can only imagine how this might impact my plans for the coming months, but I'm excited to see how it all plays out.
With the proposed holiday, it will be interesting to see how it affects the local tourism industry and the lifestyle of expats and digital nomads. I'm eager to explore more of Da Nang during this extended break, perhaps even taking a trip to Hoi An or Hue. The 4-day holiday could be the perfect opportunity to recharge and enjoy the beauty of Vietnam.
What do you think about the proposed 4-day National Day holiday? Would you take advantage of this extended break? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
Thirty years of Minneapolis winters were enough. Retired from manufacturing, packed up, and landed in Da Nang. Best decision I ever made. Now it's beach sunrises, Vietnamese coffee, and figuring out healthcare as an expat retiree. Happy to share what I've learned.
