Can I still park in a closed daycare's parking zone?

Can I still park in a closed daycare's parking zone?

I saw a sign in front of a daycare in Lincoln Park that says parking is restricted, but the daycare is no longer in business. I'm wondering if the parking restriction still applies.

Given the potential for confusion, it's a good idea to verify the daycare status before parking in the area. This can be done by checking signs or contacting the relevant authorities.

It would be an unwise decision to take on the city over a parking ticket, making it the worst hill to die on.

I wouldn’t risk it tbh, it's not worth the potential fine or hassle.

If a sign prohibits parking, fighting the ticket will be challenging. The ticket writers are only authorized to issue tickets, not to verify the legitimacy of the signs. Additionally, attending a hearing can be time-consuming, even with supporting evidence like dated photos.

The rule still applies, but you can try contacting the local alderman to request the sign be removed. They may be able to assist you in resolving the issue.

You can contact the city's 311 service to report the issue and potentially have the sign removed, allowing you to park in the area.
