Furnace repair company?

Furnace repair company?

We just got a Lennox furnace installed and the technician from Atco said the circuit board is dead and needs to be replaced. The model is a Lennox G40UH-48C-110-04 gas furnace and the current installed circuit board is the Lennox SureLight 32M8801. We're worried about warranty issues if we do it ourselves.

To get a quote, compare the cost of the board alone. I wouldn't worry excessively about the warranty, as boards are relatively simple and should last several years. Just ensure you get the exact model.

Atco estimated the board's cost to be around $400. A technician suggested that if the board is identical, you might be able to replace it yourself. Before disconnecting any wires, take a picture of the old board for reference. However, it's uncertain whether the exact model is still in production, which could lead to complications with the new wiring.

Although the exact model might be discontinued, there's likely a substantial stock of older boards available. The technology doesn't change significantly, except when upgrading to high-efficiency models. $400 seems a bit steep; consider shopping around to find a better deal. To avoid potential wiring issues, ensure you get the exact board model.

The age of your furnace may determine whether it still has a warranty covering parts and labor. If it's relatively new, you can contact Lennox at 1-800 for assistance. They'll send a technician, partnered with a Calgary company, at no extra charge.

Stampede Plumbing and Heating is a fair and reliable option for assistance.

Lennox parts plus, located on 1 Street SW, and Arpi's are the only dealers of Lennox factory parts in Calgary. On a regular Tuesday, the board may cost $400-$500. However, due to the premium for on-call staff, you can expect an additional couple of hundred dollars.

It's impressive if Atco can diagnose a faulty control board, as this is often the first suspect in the industry. Consider consulting a residential HVAC company for their assessment, but avoid mentioning the board.
