What's being done to fix the state of Town Lake?

I used to love rowing on Town Lake, but it's become impossible due to the weeds. I'm worried about the boat rental places and the impact on the environment.

That lake is Ladybird Lake. It's a far cry from the original Town Lake, and I'm sure Ladybird would be appalled by its current state.
