Best banking options moving on from Revolut?

Best banking options moving on from Revolut?
Juridique & Finance 5 answers • suneesunee
I've lost my trust in Revolut since they've also shared confidential data from many customers by replying on a fake government mail. I'm living in Bangkok under a DTV visa and Dutch. I'm looking for alternatives to Revolut, but I don't want to use a home country bank, and I'm not a fan of fintech options like True Money. What are my options?

I have a Wise account, which is suitable for its purpose, not a full-fledged bank. I also have bank accounts in Thailand, which I recommend for those living in Thailand, but opening them might be challenging due to visa and residency requirements. When considering a home country account, it's worth noting that some banks may allow foreign address holders to open accounts without requiring a physical presence in the country, such as the State Department Federal Credit Union in the US.

True can't be used as a daily driver app because you have a DTV, which allows you to upgrade your account.

This issue is widespread among many financial institutions, including Revolut. A major power outage in London likely affected a Google datacenter with security clearance for financial institutions, disrupting services. It's generally a good idea to have multiple options for financial transactions. From a customer service perspective, Wise is equally or even more challenging to deal with than Revolut, especially if you don't have an account manager.

Can you share more about your revenue streams? Do you have an online business through a US LLC, or do you receive payments from European clients to an IBAN account? What's your current financial setup?

Opening a US LLC won't magically solve your banking issues, especially for US LLC owners. Banking problems are a significant challenge for them. You may want to consider Georgian bank accounts, such as SOLO and TBC, which can be opened remotely, one with a notary company and one without. Before opening a US LLC with a US-based company, it's essential to research and consider European service providers, which are often more familiar with the challenges faced by Europeans. Companies like Staatenlos.ch can provide more information.
