Tulum Yoga Music Festival: A Community-Centric Event That Grew from the Grassroots
Tulum's inaugural Yoga Music Fest marked a significant milestone in the city's wellness and cultural scene, bringing together local artists and enthusiasts for a week of yoga, music, and wellness activities. With the tourism office already planning for a second edition, the festival's success resonated deeply with organizers and participants alike.

Organizers Jay Hari and Ona Munay, among others, aimed to create a space where local talent could thrive, despite Tulum's low season. The week-long event, which started with a kirtan on September 21 and culminated with a free closing ceremony at the municipal palace, attracted about 100 attendees. The festival spanned multiple venues, including El Domo at Azulik, where the opening night took place, and Oasis, which hosted Festival Day.
Local teachers and practitioners like Ona Munay led sessions such as Libaira Sonic and Resonates: Voice Liberation Circle, fostering a sense of community and connection through their teachings. The festival not only served as a platform for these experts but also as a way to engage with the broader Tulum community, especially during its off-season.
After a successful first year, the municipal tourism office has shown support for the festival, engaging in discussions with the organizers and sharing posts about the event. The upcoming second edition promises to build on this foundation, continuing to celebrate and integrate Tulum's wellness and cultural offerings into the community's fabric.
