Canada Disability Benefit Payment Set for October 15: What You Need to Know
Starting next week, Canadians with disabilities who qualify for the government’s Disability Benefit will see a payment in their bank accounts. Tetiana Chernykova from Shutterstock provides a quick guide on what expats and digital nomads in Toronto need to know.

When to Expect Payments: The Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) will begin rolling out on October 15, 2026. This payment is significant for those living with disabilities, as it offers monthly support. Make sure to check your eligibility and start the application process if you haven’t already.
Eligibility: To qualify, you must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident who has lived in Canada for at least 18 months. Other qualifying statuses include individuals registered under the Indian Act or those who have been approved for the Disability Tax Credit.
Application Process: If you received a letter from Service Canada, follow the instructions carefully. If not, you can still apply by checking if you have a spouse or common-law partner who has filed their 2025 federal income tax returns. The application process is straightforward but requires accurate information to ensure you receive the correct amount.
Payment Amount: The maximum monthly benefit is $204.20, but the amount varies based on your adjusted family net income. Payments can be received for up to 24 months, starting from the month your application is approved.
