Camuy's Alcalde Gabriel Hernández Highlights Upcoming Developments
The Camuy alcalde, Gabriel “Gaby” Hernández Rodríguez, has highlighted several upcoming developments aimed at boosting the municipality’s economy, including the construction of a hotel and a significant number of residential units. He emphasized the need to address ongoing water supply issues and progress on the construction of a new water filtration plant.

Hernández also mentioned the planned revitalization of the Juan Francisco “Cheo” López stadium, which will serve as the home field for the Camuy Arenas Doble A team. He expressed optimism about the completion of the stadium’s renovation and the hotel project, which will include 124 rooms, a casino area, and a retail space.
The alcalde further detailed the project to build 120 residential units, both “walk-up” apartments and residential homes, with a commercial area of 45,000 square feet. Additionally, he announced a new condominium-hotel development at the site of an old school, converting it into a set of apartments with a restaurant and a hotel.
Despite these initiatives, Hernández acknowledged the ongoing challenges, such as the need for continued improvement in water supply services and the necessity for further investment in the region’s infrastructure.
